Navigation Byelaw Review

Please can you contribute to the Windermere Lake Navigation Byelaw review. You can air your views at http://www.lakedistrict.gov.uk/windermereconsultation

It is important that we get as many contributions as possible so that the widest spectrum of lake users is represented in the review.

Examples of changes that might desireable are:

  • Clarity of speed limits for rescue craft (e.g. supporting organised swims, sailing races, canoeing events, diving);
  • Scope for undertaking organised powerboating races;
  • Scope for undertaking occasional landing of “sea planes” on the lake (in support of the lakes role in the war time production of the Sunderland Bomber, etc);
  • Scope for the Lake District National Park Authority to give occasional authority for a “breach” of the Byelaws if it is in the public interest to do so (e.g. as above).
